Singer-Songwriter Branding Shoot
It was a beautiful summer day to photograph some new personal branding photos of singer-songwriter, Logan Dixon. I’ve previously photographed Logan’s acting headshots and modeling portfolio, but Logan’s Mom wanted to get some new portraits of Logan that she could use for auditions and to promote herself as a singer-songwriter.
The PhotoShoot Concept
Timing really is everything! I was in Maryland visiting family and Logan’s summer break was quickly ending as she was a few days away from heading out of state to attend college. We only had a short window of time to get this shoot in. I suggested that we shoot at Logan’s family home, which is on a gorgeous farm. We had done shoots at the family’s home before, but this time, I wanted to utilize more of the space. I shared my ideas of creating a personal branding session, centered around taking photos of Logan as a music artist. In previous shoots we did, they were a bit more simple, but for this shoot, I wanted to bring along a team and really create images that felt like a full on editorial story for Logan. My goal was to create images Logan could use for promotional materials, social media, and for any musical releases she had coming up, as well as some nice and clean, timeless portraits she could have.
I love when clients invite me into their homes to shoot. While I love working in a photography studio space, I also enjoy being on location with my client. It’s nice to have our shoots in a space that’s familiar to them. I also have a pretty mobile setup with my lighting and backdrops, and I love the challenge of setting up a photo studio in unconventional spaces.
We started inside, I setup my studio lights and utilized a white wall in their dining room. These would be simple headshots that Logan could use for auditions, modeling submissions, and anything else she may need. We kept everything looking very natural and soft. Once we got some headshots, we ventured outside to create more personal branded images.
The Day Of The Photoshoot
I had Sam from No Filter Glam on to do Logan’s hair and makeup. I’ve worked with Sam before and I love how she does makeup, it brings out my client’s natural beauty, while making their skin look radiant and hair look effortlessly beautiful. Sam added an iconic red lip for some of our final looks.
I had a blast going around the property, finding inspiration and gorgeous light in so many different spaces! Logan’s Dad is a vintage car collector, and she had her very own vintage bus/van she drove during her senior year in high school. I saw this bus at a previous shoot, so I was thrilled to get to use it for this shoot!
When we finished up the shoot, we went through the images together, selecting all of Logan and her Mom (Kellay)’s favorite images. Thanks to Kellay and Logan for having me out for this shoot. It’s always a pleasure to work with you both again!
