In-Home & On-Site Portraits — Studio Results, Photographed in Your Space
Professional headshots and environmental portraits, shot where you live and work.
Have you ever thought about having a photoshoot in the comfort of your home?
A fashion editorial shot in a gorgeous live workspace in NYC.
In a recent online discussion on Generative AI headshots, I saw the argument that a person could generate headshots of themselves without leaving the comfort of their own home. It’s actually possible to have your own custom and personalized photoshoot at your home. All portraits here were shot on-site in homes, offices, and other non-studio locations.
I’ve photographed in offices, labs, hospitals, hallways, homes, and more. These are environmental portraits. Environmental portraits show you in a space that tells your story and work especially well for editorial-style imagery. Your home could be the set of your own personal editorial!
While a lot of my work shows various colors of seamless backgrounds, I really enjoy photographing environmental portraits of people in their space. This adds a personal touch to your photoshoot and we can really customize your portraits in your own space. Whether it’s your home office, kitchen, yard, living room, or place of business, I’m thrilled to create images in the comfort of your own home!

How an In-Home Photoshoot Works:
Behind the scenes of a portrait session shot in an NYC apartment.
My team and I will come to you, so there’s no commute necessary. We will setup the photoshoot on-site and you won’t have to stress about packing outfits for the shoot or navigating to a studio. When I arrive, we’ll do a brief intro and get you settled into hair and makeup. After that, I’ll begin setting up my professional strobes, lighting modifiers, and backdrops needed for your custom photoshoot. During our pre-shoot consultation, I can tour your home to scout out locations that would make great photo scenes and find a location to setup for hair + makeup.

What To Expect:
Pre Shoot
Discovery Call: Discuss vision, session overview, estimated session fee range, scheduling and logistics.
Pre-shoot consultation (often in-home or on-site); finalize concept, select wardrobe, scout locations, review products and pricing.
Photoshoot Day
Hair + Makeup (HMU) done on-site while I load in and set up the photoshoot (60-90 minutes).
1-2 hours guided photoshoot*, multiple looks as planned, with breaks for HMU & wardrobe changes as needed.
Same day image reveal + ordering session to select images and print products (30-120 minutes).
Digital delivery of high-resolution JPEGs delivered in a downloadable gallery within 1-2 weeks.
Print product delivery timelines vary based on vendor timelines (usually no more than 6-12 weeks).
We can accommodate shorter sessions for executives and tight schedules. Great images can be made quickly, but we’ll confirm the shot list and expectations in advance—custom portrait work still requires time and preparation to achieve the best results.

What Makes a Great On‑Site Portrait Location
A space that’s uniquely yours and tells your story (home office, workshop, art studio, sewing room, living room).
Ceiling heights of 10 ft or higher.
Medium to large rooms for backdrop and lighting setup — ideally 120+ sq ft of open space.
Furniture that can be used as set pieces or moved easily.
Rooms with abundant natural light or large windows.
A yard or garden for outdoor portraits — attractive landscaping, trees, minimal distractions.
Homes with character, distinctive architecture, or interesting details.

FAQ’s about On-Site custom portrait sessions
How much time is needed?
My team and I aim to create a thoughtful session with time to produce great images. Typical full‑service in‑home portrait and personal branding sessions run 4–6 hours: 60–90 minutes for hair & makeup (done while I set up), 60–120 minutes of shooting, plus a same‑day image reveal and ordering session.
Can you work within tight timeframes?
Yes. For individual executives we can complete sessions in 30–90 minutes based on needs and hard outs. For corporate group headshots I typically schedule 10–15 minute slots per employee. We’ll coordinate during the discovery call and pre-shoot consult to keep your team on schedule.
Tight on time?
If you need a faster option, consider my Limited Studio Portrait Event; an in‑studio experience to get camera‑ready, photographed, and select images in 2 hours or less. Contact me to check upcoming dates and availability.
What equipment do you bring?
I bring 3–5 professional strobe lights, light modifiers, stands, and backdrop options tailored to the shoot concept. Everything is portable and professionally rigged for on‑site use.
Do I have to do an in‑home session?
No — in‑home is an option, not a requirement. If a studio better suits the concept or you prefer not to host a shoot, we’ll book a studio and bring the same approach there.
Do you have insurance?
Yes — I carry business and liability insurance for on‑site work.
How should I prepare?
We’ll cover details in your pre‑shoot consultation. In general: declutter shooting areas, make key furniture moveable, ensure easy access and parking if possible, and have wardrobe choices on hand.
Can I have my pet with me?
Pets are welcome and often make great subjects. If you’d like pet photos, let me know in advance so I can plan shots and safety. For their safety, please ensure pets are comfortable, leashed or contained when not being photographed, and away from hair/makeup areas, unless they can be supervised.
